As a regular player working through Star Wars Outlaws in 2026, I quickly realised that upgrading Kay's speeder is one of the most satisfying quality-of-life changes on Toshara. The Mechanic expert mission, which rewards you with the Atmospheric Accelerator and unlocks the Speed Boost ability, is not a simple fetch quest. It sent me through a dangerous wind harvester packed with rotating fans, energy barriers, moving pistons, and plenty of timing-based platforming. I hope my first-person walkthrough helps you avoid the damage-dealing traps that caught me out more than once.

Starting The Mechanic Mission
I began by travelling to Jaunta's Hope, either by riding my speeder across Toshara or using the fast travel point after activating it. Inside the Daruda Diner, I spoke to the bartender. She had not seen Selo Rovak recently, but she pointed me toward a windfishing settlement called Kadua. Once the new waypoint appeared on my map, I headed west of the Mirogana Valley. In Kadua I found two villagers working. After their brief conversation, one of Selo's friends told me to search a cliff northeast of Jaunta's Hope.

At the cliff edge, I found Selo sitting outside her shop. She asked me to recover a special component called the Atmospheric Accelerator and handed me some magnetic disruptors to use inside the wind harvester.
Reaching the Wind Harvester
Selo marked the wind harvester northwest of Jaunta's Hope. I rode my speeder to the mountainside and placed the magnetic disruptors on the console on the left side of the huge fan platform. This disabled the turbine long enough for me to enter.

I drove my speeder down the tunnel, took a right branch after the main exit was blocked, and approached the inner entrance. Here I learned an important lesson: go under the bridge, not over it. The bridge fan will shred your health if you try to drive across.

Navigating the Fan Maze
Under the bridge I found an energy barrier. I sent Nix through a vent to the right, and he switched off the barrier. I entered a large ventilation shaft, climbed a ladder, and reached a tunnel full of industrial fans.
The first two fans turned on and off in a pattern. I waited for both to stop, then sprinted through. After dropping onto a lower platform, I dealt with a constantly spinning fan by shooting the glowing node on the left. That cut its power and let me pass.

Next I climbed a metal grate system along the wall. At the large fan I paused and watched its rhythm. When it shut down, I crossed quickly. I dropped through a tunnel with a hole in the top, squeezed through a narrow gap, and entered a much larger chamber with more hazards.
Timing Moves, Pistons, and Grapple Points
This larger section mixed moving wall structures with vertical climbing. The two big pistons that slid out of the walls could knock me aside, so I waited until they retracted and ran past. Then I climbed yellow grates, jumped onto a fan, and continued upward. One wrong step near an active fan can blow you clean off the wall, so patience is everything.
In a side tunnel with a locked container, I overrode the lock and looted the supplies. Back outside, I shot two shining nodes on either side of a powered fan to switch it off. With the fan stopped, I used my grappling hook to swing across the gap.

Later, I reached another set of wall-mounted pistons. This part required precise timing: I waited for the lower platforms to be extended while the upper hazards stayed retracted, then jumped the whole sequence in one quick burst. I continued across yellow bars and more alternating fans until a final vent entrance appeared.
Extracting the Atmospheric Accelerator
I crawled through the last ventilation system, climbed a ladder, and found a small office. After a bit of looting, I interacted with the terminal and extracted the Atmospheric Accelerator. That was the component Selo needed.

To escape, I left through the door on the left side of the terminal and used my grapple on highlighted points to swing toward the large fan on the opposite wall. My speeder was waiting nearby. I rode through the deactivated fans and down a long tunnel back to the open air.

Returning to Selo
Back at Selo's shop, I handed over the Atmospheric Accelerator. She installed the upgrade, completed The Mechanic mission, and unlocked the Speed Boost skill. Now Kay's speeder has useful short bursts of speed, which makes crossing Toshara's hills and plains far less tedious.

Here is a quick summary of the main trials and how I handled them:
| Hazard or section | What worked for me |
|---|---|
| Bridge at the entrance | Drive under it, never across |
| Energy barrier | Send Nix through the right-hand vent |
| First two fans | Wait for both to switch off, then sprint |
| Constantly spinning fan | Shoot the glowing node on the left |
| Wall grates and large fan | Stop, wait for the fan to rest, then climb quickly |
| Moving pistons | Stand clear until they retract, then run past |
| Upper piston jumps | Jump when lower pads are out and upper hazards are in |
| Grapple gaps | Disable twin nodes first, then swing across |
| Extraction room | Loot first, then use the terminal |
Completing this expert mission took me a few tries because of the fans and piston timing. However, the Speed Boost upgrade is absolutely worth the effort, especially if you spend a lot of time exploring Toshara or evading Imperial patrols. If you are also collecting other upgrades, keep an eye out for similar expert missions because they often hide valuable components behind environmental puzzles rather than combat.
