I have a confession: I spent an embarrassing amount of time in Star Wars Outlaws staring at glowing energy barriers like they owed me credits. I could slice terminals from the start, sure. But the moment a door said 'requires Slicing Kit', I transformed from a scoundrel into a confused tourist. If you are in the same leaky boat, relax. Even in 2026, with all the patches and my ever-growing backlog, the route to the Slicing Kit is still the same. You just need patience, a little stealth, and the willingness to eavesdrop in a gambling parlor.

Slicing is Outlaws' version of hacking. A Slicing Kit gives you a hacking screen in places that do not have a terminal. That means energy barriers, hidden caches, and places like Kerro's Speakeasy in Mirogana become fair game. But you cannot just buy one from a vending machine next to a droid. You must progress the main quest and find The Slicer expert first.

Your first breadcrumb comes from Danka. After you finish the 'Underworld' and 'New Tricks' quests, and after you hand over the smuggler's cache info near Jaunta's Hope, meet her at the local bar. She will point you toward someone who knows The Slicer. Follow that rumor trail, and you will eventually unlock both the kit and the expert herself.

Here is the route I followed, complete with the mistakes I made so you can avoid them.

Step 1: Eavesdrop at Makal's Gambling Parlor

Travel to Makal's Gambling Parlor in Mirogana. Lean on the bar near one of the exits and act casual. I tried to look mysterious. I looked like a man waiting for a refund. Eventually, you overhear residents talking about The Slicer. Her name is Aila Bren, and her contact is on the landing bay in the Crimson Dawn district.

Step 2: Sneak Into the Crimson Dawn District

Head to the district north of the main market. The entrance is through one of the kitchens, and a beaded doorway is guarded by two syndicate thugs. If you have a 'Good' reputation with Crimson Dawn, you can walk in like you own the place. If not, find the vent around the corner inside a maintenance area. I had a 'Good' reputation, which was nice, because my vent-crawling skills are mostly panic-based.

Inside, make your way to the landing pad. This area is restricted, so sneak to the center. The contact will speak to you regardless of your reputation. Once you talk to him and Aila, she gives you coordinates and asks for an Imperial Code Sequencer.

Step 3: Steal the Imperial Code Sequencer

Travel to the coordinates northwest of the Southern Falls region. This is Galactic Empire territory, so if you are 'Wanted', be careful. The Code Sequencer is on a technician outside the building. They wear a grey uniform. Send Nix to steal from them until you get the right item. I love Nix. Nix is the only coworker I have ever truly trusted.

Step 4: Break Into Aila's Compound

Once you have the sequencer, travel to Aila's coordinates to the southeast. Make your way into the parking garage within the compound. For optimal stealth, scale the cliffs to the right of the main entrance and get over the top. Inside, speak to Aila and exit through the vent to her left.

Install the sequencer on the pillar on the roof. There is a ladder to the immediate right of the vent exit. Then head to the main tower. Most Stormtroopers are busy, so you can often just run to it. Inside, fight or sneak your way to the top room with the terminal. Lower the defenses and escape the compound.

Step 5: Collect Your Slicing Kit

Meet Aila's contact back at Makal's in Mirogana. He waits in a back room with your new Slicing Kit. Finally. I felt like I had graduated from petty door-opener to certified digital menace.

Once you collect the kit, try it out at the nearby cache called Kerro's Speakeasy. As you approach the location outside Makal's, look around the alley corner for a vent you can slip into. It is a perfect first test.

Step What I did Why it mattered
1 Overheard rumors at Makal's Found Aila Bren's name
2 Visited Crimson Dawn landing bay Got coordinates and the sequencer task
3 Stole from a grey-uniform technician Obtained Imperial Code Sequencer
4 Installed sequencer and lowered defenses Completed Aila's quest
5 Met contact at Makal's Received the Slicing Kit

That rounds up how I got the Slicing Kit in Star Wars Outlaws. If you are still hunting experts, check out the other Expert locations to unlock new skills faster. If you are tired of walking, look into the best Trailblazer upgrades and best Speeder upgrades to smooth out your traversal on and off-world. May your slicing be quick, your stealth be luckier than mine, and your Nix never get distracted by a shiny rock.
